Really enjoyed our visit. Had some really knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Hope it is utilised by local school s and other groups.

Its free and an interesting diversion but ultimately its just 5 or 6 walled and netted spaces with plenty of habitat for whatever New Forest native reptile is inside. But heres the problem, they are naturally reclusive creatures and very well adapted to blend with their surroundings. Being cold blooded in a cool climate, they dont move about much either. So, although the information is extremely interesting, be prepared to spend a long time looking into enclosures unable to see anything at all. Apart from the frogs. There were plenty of frogs.

A little gem & it's free.. we didn't managed to see all the reptiles etc as you can never predict when they will come out on " Parade" , however it has an interesting collection of diverse things that you can handle e.g. different animal skulls, deer antlers at different stages, snake skin, nests & so forth. A bit about Raptors too & other birds likely to be seen/ heard in the New Forest. An interesting preamble for us as we stopped on our way to the New Forest Wild life park with the grand kids.Plus it's in a very lovely part of the forest.

Fantastic hidden gem. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. We had good success finding most of the animals today. Enjoyed a walk around the trail, it's not that long, just over a mile so even our youngest managed it. Every Wednesday in school holidays free activities by rspb. No cafe so take a picnic, sometimes there is an ice cream van up there. We love it and are regular visitors.

Local species for all to see (as long as you have good eyesight ) Super helpful volunteers, pointing out the different reptiles and giving us the lowdown on the centre. Mapped out walk through parts of the forest, highlighted with areas of interest. And dog friendly which was a must for us as we're on a family holiday. All for the price of a donation!!
